Travertine is a type of porous limestone that belongs to the category of sedimentary and decorative stones. This stone is formed from the deposits of hot springs. The cavities in this stone are the result of the space occupied by gases present in the hot waters, which serve as a source of sedimentation. The less soluble elements in the water of these sources, the brighter the color of the stone will be. The temperature and altitude of the region also affect the quality of travertine. Iran is among the countries rich in travertine reserves. Travertine stones in Iran have a wide range of colors, mainly seen in white, cream, beige, chocolate brown, lemon, silver, red, etc. Due to their durability and strength, travertine stones in Iran are processed in both vein cut and cross cut forms in tile dimensions (in various sizes) and slabs.
